YOUR MEMORY
I'll be faithful to your memory,
as you are, and not supposed to be.
And when people ask me how I know,
I can smile and say she told me so
"In a little while you'll be alright."
That's what people tell me every night.
I've been somewhere they have never been:
I've been privileged to call you friend
I asked for nothing and now here it is,
Every room is full of emptiness.
Though I live these days apart from you,
our Redeemer has redeemed this too.
As the vision of you fades from sight,
I can't hear you, but I think I might.
I can see you when I close my eyes;
In your memory I recognize that
I'll be faithful to your memory,
as you are, and not supposed to be.
And when people ask me how I know
I can smile and say you told me so.
