Our new CD is HERE. |
HERE
We’re glad we can finally say our new CD is here. Here was recorded in Nebraska, Colorado, Ohio, New York, Missouri, and Texas. The photo was taken in California where the cover was designed, and the discs were copied and shrink-wrapped in Minnesota. It is, by some measures, an unlikely provenance for an album called Here. Yet, it seems perfectly normal to us.
We have a friend whose outgoing voice-mail message—on his mobile phone—includes the information, “…I’m not here right now….” That claim always initiates a metaphysical quandary. On some simple level, one might ask, “Where, then, are you?” Further, “How about now?” A minute later, “How about now?” Heisenburg aside, one might always truthfully respond, “Here.”
Here includes twelve tracks. In the past we've forgotten to sing our new songs in the concerts. This time, we think we'll be playing most of these most nights. So, if you are coming to a concert (see the "Concerts Near You" section) or planning to call and book us in your town, be sure to get your requests for old songs in early because we are running the risk of becoming one of those bands that plays new material in the concerts, leaving the audience to say, "Those are not the songs we were expecting." Then, the band wil have to say something like, "Here is what we are playing tonight," as if the next CD will be called, "Period." To be followed by, "Buster!"
You can make requests for songs at any concert in advance over the internet by contacting george@speedwood.com. Be sure to bring your approval from the Panel of Judge to the concert though and show it to the band before they play. We're sorry about the hoops, but, you know, LOST AND FOUND rules, and all that.
Anyway, hope you like listening to our new CD here, and that wherever you are, you'll play some of the new songs from here yourself.

WHAT IS SPEEDWOOD?
"Speedwood" is the type of music we play. People hear our concerts and
immediately recognize that we are not playing Heavy-Metal musicno metal
instruments. As soon as they see the piano and the acoustic guitar, they
figure we must be playing "Heavy-Wood" music. This is not exactly correct.
The truth is we play a type of music that is a sub-genre of Heavy Wood, known
as "speedwood." Many people would say we have come to define the genre
itself. So we felt lucky to gain the rights to the domain name of the entire
genre when we decided to launch a website. Each of our three live-in-concert
CD's is called Speedwood (Volume 1, 2, and 3). |
